If you want to learn how to surf or improve your skills, you may do so everyday in front of our surf school that is open to the public daily for surf lessons, camps, and surfboard rentals. If you already know how to surf then get ready for a surfers paradise!

Ferrugem Beach:

Ferrugem is a small beach resort town that is located ninety minutes south of the Florianopolis Airport. This area looks a lot like Hawaii, and is one of the best places in Brazil to find good surf in the summer. The waves are fun during the months of January and February and average between 2-6 feet. The water temperature varies between 70-77 degrees depending on the swell direction. The surf breaks on a sandy bottom along a cove next to a mountain that helps to block the wind which makes for better quality surf throughout the day. Ferrugem has a variety of good restaurants, internet cafes, money exchange locations called cambio, markets, bars and nightclubs. Everything you need is here!

The trail on the right leads to our surf camp and the trail on the left takes you to a restaurant and bar called Zado.  They have great food, drinks and live music.

Your Hosts:
Surfari Surf Instructors Rick Gehris & Paola Langsch will be your hosts. Paola is a native from southern Brazil. She grew up in this area and knows where to go and what to do. Rick discovered Ferrugem during a surf trip to Brazil in 1997. As your tour guides, our goal is customer service! We have a lot of repeat customers that we have surfed with and taught to surf through the years. I feel blessed to be able to share this opportunity with them and invite you to come visit us out at the Brazil Surfari in Ferrugem.

Typical Day:
You will start your day with a continental style breakfast that is offered every morning from 8AM-10AM. After breakfast you can walk to the beach and surf, take a surf lesson, or just hang out, and enjoy all there is to see. Your schedule will be flexible and you will have plenty of opportunities to explore the area. At night, the town comes alive with nightclubs, bars, concerts, parties, shopping, and restaurants. The people that visit here are usually on vacation from Brazil or Argentina. The locals are friendly and they love Americans.
